It is spring

Materials: Chinese Lanter die, sakura, tiny daisy and butterfly punch, stencil, Tim Holz distress ink pad 'Broken China', blending brush

Made this card using using stencil, dies and punch. The lantern with the intricate longevity knot is an auspicious symbol for the Chinese during Chinese New Year which falls on spring month in Chinese Calendar. The die-cut word is 'Chun' which means spring.

The background was inked using stencil and Tim Holz Broken China distress ink with a blending brush. Oh..so easy peasy with this technique. The colour was smooth and not blotchy. I was struggling previously using Ranger distress foam tool which was always patchy.

Next, punched sakura and tiny daisy flower, inked the edges of the sakura petals with pink colour pencil. The small butterfly was punched out from snippet of glitter patterned paper.

Challenges:

  1. Butterfly Challenge #154 - theme knot, colour kilimanjaro and kobi
  2. Pixie's Snippet Playground - Challenge #399

  1. I love your lantern design which does look a lot like a kite as well. Thankyou for coming and pinning the butterfly wheel with me. Hugs Mrs A.

  2. What a lovely card - I used to love Chinese New Year when we lived in Singapore! Which reminds me - did your prize arrive safely - from Christmas time?
